Milking It: TMILKY @TMILKY_

Interviewed by Rika Mokal

What’s your go-to milk?

Semi-skimmed.

What inspired the creation of Milkiemag?

I’m a control-freak, but I need to create safe grounds for anyone to do what they like. Imagine this is my playground. Made by me, for everybody else.

If you could describe Milikiemag in three words, what would they be?

Think, Write, Milk.

What are your goals for the magazine in the next few years, and what can we look forward to?

This is hyper-specific, but I’d like to create a space for investigative journalism alongside the personal essays. I need people to go outside. Including me.

Who are some of your biggest influences, and how have they shaped your approach to life?

Miley Cyrus and Mickey Mouse. Hannah Montana has had a profound influence on my psyche, and perhaps I’ll never truly grasp how deep it has seeped into me until I grow old. Mickey Mouse is a household name — the two are intertwined somehow. And not just by Disney.

How have your friendships evolved as you’ve grown older?

I weep now. But, I remain assured that ‘chosen family’ is a beautiful concept.

Creative burnouts can be exhausting. How do you handle them?

For me, personally, I need to leave the county.

Has traveling changed your perspective on life or influenced your values? If so, share how.

It’s only affirmed that there is a world beyond my surroundings. I have a Sagittarius stellium, and sometimes being in one place for too long feels like doing myself an injustice. I could also just be a massive brat.

What themes do you find yourself returning to in your writing, and why do they resonate with you?

I find myself turning inward, feeling embarrassed for doing so, and then returning to it always. I’ll always write poetry. Think in poetry. Feel in poetry.
